Avumile-and-Nkosana-Original

Names: Avumile Mbali and Nkosana Nkosi
Community issue: Education
Hometown: East London, Eastern Cape

In 2012, Avumile Mbali and Nkosana Nkosi were Grade 11 students  from the Eastern Cape when they chose to focus their Community Action Project on empowering primary school children in the communities neighboring their school. They partnered with a primary school called Duncan Valley Primary School and with assistance from their school and thirty five of their peers, from other schools, they hosted activities that aimed at inspiring and developing primary school learners through experiential learning.

The different activities were aimed at teaching the primary school participants the different aspects of the PRIDES Movement, which are: Passion, Respect, Initiative, Discipline, Enthusiasm and Success. Avumile and Nkosana are currently in Matric and working with sixty primary school learners who benefit from their movement. They hope to extend their movement to other primary schools, in the not-so-distant future.
