Mduduzi: Extra lessons aficionado

Mduduzi ran an educational orientated community action project (CAP) at his high school, Hlabi Senior Secondary School in Limpopo. As a Grade 11 student at the time, he decided to focus on providing tutoring and extra lesson classes in Maths and Physics, to Grade 10’s and 11’s.

By the end of 2012 he had noted that there was an increase in performance and pass rate of  learners in his tutoring group. The highlight for Mduduzi was hearing most of his students say that they were better able to answer the questions in the exams thanks to him starting his community action project. He reported that in 2013, all of the Grade 10 learners he was tutoring passed, whilst in the Grade 11 class, 16 of the 18 learners that he tutored passed their exams.

In 2013 he continued with his tutoring sessions, and rescheduled them to take place early in the morning so it will not clash with his afternoon Matric study sessions.
