What you missed: 2014 enke: Alumni Summit

This past Friday, 31 January 2014 we had the pleasure of hosting 54 enke alumni from around the country at our first ever enke: Alumni Summit. Since 2009 we are proud to share that we have inspired, supported and trained 980 young adults on both of  our programs and the young leaders we hosted this past weekend  represented past participants from our two youth programs (enke: Trailblazer Program & enke: Ignition Program) during the period 2009 to 2013.

The theme for the weekend was a fitting one “RE-CONNECT! RE-INSPIRE!” –  our alumni got to link up with friends whom they remember from their program days, expand their social networks by making new connections, as well as having their passion for creating positive social change re-ignited.

Lots of lessons and great memories where shared during the weekend, such as:

So what exactly did participants get up to over the past 3 days, you may be asking? A LOT! Below are just a few activities that our alumni got up to:

  • The Amazing Scavenger Challenge: An exercise were teams had to undertake a number of activities and tasks (some VERY tricky) to gain points. There were 6 teams in total and competition was definitely stiff.
  • Brainstorming workshop for alumni to identify the skills and talents they each  have to offer.
  • Panelist Discussion on “Finding Your Passion & Building Success“: We have the privilege of having the following individuals as our panelists – Sizwe Nxumalo (African School of Excellence), Pablo Esteves (Emzingo), Tebello Rampo (Activate!) and Mashokane Mahlo (Young Entrepreneurs Platform).Below are some great points shared on the panel:

Three days definitely flies by and we concluded the 2014 enke: Alumni Summit knowing that our participants had definitely fulfilled the enke mission, to: Connect. Equip. Inspire.
