enke in GlobalGiving September 2019 Accelerator

Raising Funds to Support the Alumni  Network on GlobalGiving.Org

We are proud and excited to announce enke’s inclusion in the September 2019 GlobalGiving Accelerator, a fundraising opportunity for nonprofits around the world. Our campaign is to raise funds to support past participants in enke Programs (enke Alumni) to continue their great work and positive impact in society.

Global Giving’s Accelerator Program is a testing ground for non-profits to become permanent partners on the platform. In order to succeed, we must raise $5,000 from 40 donors by 27 September 2019. If we meet this threshold, we will be permanently featured on GlobalGiving’s website, where we have the potential to benefit from corporate relationships, connect with new donors, and access online fundraising tools. Additionally, we could earn bonus prizes from GlobalGiving for raising the most money.

Support us in our work to support young people to thrive and build a better future for themselves and others by contributing to our September Accelerator Drive 2019Link 3000+ South African Youth to Opportunities. You can also share the word with your friends and family and help us in furthering our cause.

About Our Global Giving Campaign

Why this project?

South Africa has the worst youth unemployment rate in the world and almost 6 million youth are not in education, employment or training. 22% of South African youth do not have direct access to people that can help them find work or opportunities, thus lacking information, know-how and social capital to identify and access opportunities to become economically active. They become trapped in a cycle of hopelessness. This project will make sure the 3,600+ youth in our alumni network avoid this.

What will we do with the funds raised in this accelerator drive?

This project is to build an online “bank” of educational resources, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for 3600+ youth trained in enke Programs. This will give them continuous access to opportunities and social capital they need to become economically active, socially responsible citizens. We will be taking what we are doing successfully face-to-face, to a digitally accessible, continuous education and development format that scales.

What is the long-term impact of this project?

At enke we give youth a chance to realise their value, thrive and lead the change they wish to see for themselves, their communities and the world. This project goes beyond the 3,6000 youth in our alumni network. We train about 400-500 youth annually, and are on track to scale that impact to double our annual reach by the end of 2020. This means that we will be making sure that 1,000s of youth have the holistic resources they need to thrive and actively contribute to the betterment of society.
